OBJECTIF
Permettre aux enfants atteints de handicap visuel ou auditif de trouver pleinement leur place dans la société, grâce à un accès à une éducation adaptée et un accompagnement vers la vie professionnelle.
PROGRAMME
Depuis 1994, Krousar Thmey s’est engagée pour l’éducation des enfants aveugles ou malvoyants au Cambodge et c’est en 1997 que la première école pour enfants sourds a été fondée.
À ce jour, Krousar Thmey est toujours la seule structure au Cambodge à offrir un programme complet d’éducation, conforme au programme scolaire officiel, pour les enfants aveugles, malvoyants ou sourds.
Les écoles spécialisées de ce programme seront transférées aux autorités cambodgiennes à l’horizon 2020.

Ouch, 23 ans, ancienne étudiante aveugle de Krousar Thmey
Née aveugle dans une famille de 8 enfants, Ouch, 23 ans, est la plus jeune soeur de la fratrie. En 2002, Krousar Thmey a mené une campagne de sensibilisation dans son village. Ouch ayant été au préalable identifiée par les autorités locales, le chargé de plaidoyer est allé à la rencontre de ses parents afin de leur présenter les avantages du programme d’éducation pour enfants aveugles ou malvoyants.[learn_more caption=”Découvrez son histoire”] Convaincue, Ouch a rejoint l’école de Kampong Cham dès le lendemain. Treize ans plus tard, Ouch savait lire et écrire correctement.
